In 1848, a Pole, Count Xavier Branicki adviser and friend to Prince Louis Bonaparte, the future Napoleon III, acquired the château. He had it fully restored, and renovated the grounds in the romantic style popular in his time. He went on to build a fabulous art collection.

Your visit to the château will let you admire:
the art collection, with Italian primitives from the collection of Cardinal Fesch, Napoleon's uncle, paintings depicting Polish history and family portraits by Madame Vigee-Lebrun, Franz Winterhalter and other
a bas-relief woodwork from the seventeenth century by Pierre Vanneau,
a royal Polish table set in gold leaf, including that of King John III Sobieski,
splendid Polish hunting trophies

Xavier Branicki collected various works of art referring to King John III Sobieski, who won the Battle of Vienna on 11 September 1683, where he defeated the Turks, broke Ottoman power and freed the besieged city. The descendants of Xavier Branicki still live here and wish you a pleasant visit among their treasures.
