Pierre de Ronsard, « Prince of Poets », was born in la Possonnière on September 11 th 1524 and lived there part of his childhood. The surrounding nature was his first source of inspiration and a number of his poems praise the Vendômois. Came and discover the charm and quietness of the place : a Gothic manor house and troglodyte outbuildings adorned, at the very beginning of the 16 th century, with fine Renaissance sculptures and inscriptions expressing the philosophical ideas of Loys, the poet’s father. Gardens designed in the 20 th century, pay tribute to the poet : along with the vegetable plots, you will marvel at the vast collection of roses, both modern and ancient. During the season special events (concerts, shows, lectures) are organized on the site (www.lesrendez-vousdelapossonniere.fr ).
